Twitch Auto Clips is a Twitch feature that can create and publish Clips from a stream. It is not the same as automatically downloading an existing Clip library. Auto Clips creates moments on Twitch; a batch downloader helps collect selected Clips afterward.

Current eligibility

According to Twitch’s official Auto Clips Alpha guide, access is still an invite-only alpha for selected channels. Twitch lists English channel language, stored and published VODs, enabled Clips, and enabled Auto Clips among the requirements. Availability can change, so treat the Twitch settings page as the final source for your account.

How Auto Clips creates moments

In the current alpha, Twitch describes two methods:

  1. Say “Twitch, Clip That” or “Twitch, Clip It” during the stream to capture the preceding moment.
  2. Let Twitch analyze stream and chat signals to identify engaging moments.

Twitch says Auto Clips can appear after the stream, include titles and captions, and use vertical-friendly formatting. AI selection is a starting point, not an editorial guarantee.

Setup and review workflow

  1. Open Creator Dashboard and check the Auto Clips option in your stream Clip settings.
  2. Confirm VOD and Clip settings meet the eligibility requirements shown by Twitch.
  3. Use clear spoken reactions if voice-triggered creation is part of your workflow.
  4. After the stream, inspect Auto Clips in the Stream Summary or Clips Manager.
  5. Check the trim, title, captions, portrait crop, context, and any sensitive moment.
  6. Delete unsuitable Clips and keep only the material you are comfortable publishing.

Twitch notes that streamers and editors retain management control. Always review automated output: background conversations, music, private information, or a misleading crop can make a technically correct Clip unsuitable.

Download and archive approved Auto Clips

Once approved, Auto Clips behave like other Clips for export and download. For several files, use ClipsDownloader for Windows to search the channel, filter by date or views, select the approved items, and download a batch with useful filenames.

ClipsDownloader does not create Twitch Auto Clips and does not currently schedule unattended channel monitoring. It handles the later collection and organization stage.

For orientation choices, read the portrait versus landscape guide. For an editor-ready process, use the Twitch Clips video workflow.
